Ever felt depressed and powerless?
Ever felt lonely?
I have felt that and it
is very difficult to get out from that state. However I am not gonna bore you
with a psychological lecture.I will let the greats of this generation inspire
you through their struggles and hardwork.
All the mentioned movies
are actual stories of people that proved tough times do not last long. All it
needs is a little bit of courage, never to give-up attitude and hard work to
achieve what you want.
Language: English
Year : 2000-2020
Ali
Genre : Sport/Drama Duration : 2h 47min
Year : 2001 IMDb : 6.8/10 Director : Michael Mann Cast : Will Smith, Jamie Fox, Jon Voight
“This was supposed to be the fight that Muhammad Ali was ended.
Supposed the myth that Muhammad was gonna fall! Supposed to be my destruction!
Well, they miscalculated, they misjudged, they got it wrong!”
The boxer who defies all the limits. I’ve never seen anyone with
so much of self-belief. Ali is a story of one man’s courage who stands with his
decisions and fights for what he feels is right whether in the ring or outside.
This gripping movie is all about hard work, self-belief and meaning of freedom.
Those who are still not convinced in watching this, watch it for Will Smith and
his high class performance.
A Street Cat Named Bob
Genre : Comedy/Drama Duration : 1h 43min
Year : 2016 IMDb : 7.3/10 Director : Roger Spottiswoode
Cast : Luke Treadaway, Ruta Gedmintas
“Everybody needs a break, everybody deserves that second chance.
Bob and I had taken ours.”
This movie is about second chances. It’s a story about a
recovering drug addict James Bowen and a homeless cat Bob who were maybe
destined to meet. Together they travelled, performed and proved everyone all
one needs is a second chance sometime. On one hand this movie deals with hard
struggles of recovering from drug addiction and on the other hand it’s a
wonderful story about friendship. A special mention to the fabulous songs of
this movie, ‘don’t give up’ and ‘second time around’ are my personal favourites.
Luke Treadaway is a delight to watch in this one. Do give a watch to this
extraordinary yet little underrated movie that’s not been much talked about.
Bohemian Rhapsody
Genre : Musical/Drama Duration : 2h 13min
Year : 2018 IMDb : 8/10 Director : Bryan Singer
Cast : Rami Malek, Gwilym Lee, Lucy Boynton
“We’re four misfits who don’t belong together, we’re playing for
the other misfits. They’re the outcasts right at the back of the room. We’re
pretty sure they don’t belong either. We belong to them.”
One of the most hyped movies of the year and what a total delight
this movie was. It’s the story about Freddie Mercury and the legendary band
Queen. It’s a movie that will teach you about identifying who you want to be
friends with. Apart from this it showcases us the brilliance and creativity of
Freddie Mercury. I also want to add before this movie I had not listened songs
of Queen but after watching this I’m in love with the band Queen and their
songs. Also to mention Rami Malek won best actor award for his role of Freddie
Mercury and after watching this movie you’ll certainly agree why.
Coach Carter
Genre : Sport/Drama Duration : 2h 16min
Year : 2005 IMDb : 7.3/10 Director : Thomas Carter
Cast : Samuel L. Jackson, Channing Tatum
“I came to coach basketball players, and you became students. l
came to teach boys, and you became men.”
Well if you like basketball you need to watch Coach Carter, if
you’re a player you need to watch Coach Carter, if you’re a teacher you need to
watch Coach Carter and if you’re a student then you definitely need to watch
Coach Carter. It’s more than just a basketball movie. Ken Carter was actually
more than just a coach. He excelled in all his fields and that’s what he is
teaching you in this movie. The importance of discipline and hard work. This is
his story how he embedded these values in his students and its also a wonderful
basketball movie as well. One thing you would learn is that excelling in sports
is not enough. You need to work hard and show your character in academics as
well. Remember discipline in life is the topmost priority.
Dallas Buyers Club
Genre : History/Drama Duration : 2h 00min Year : 2013 IMDb : 8/10 Director : Jean-Marc Vallee Cast : Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto
“Let me give y'all a little news flash. There ain't nothin' out
there can kill fuckin' Ron Woodroof in 30 days.”
Sometimes life gives you some very unexpected problems. Same
happened with the colourful cowboy Ron Woodroof when he was diagnosed with
AIDS. But who knew instead of getting weak he became stronger maybe not so
physically but mentally. He crossed borders to get the right drug to let him
live and also made this available to other people in need. This movie will
teach you how courageous one can be in tough times and urge within a person to
help others suffering the same. What evens adds value to this movie is Mathew’s
performance and that weight loss he undergoes in this movie is practically
impossible which led him to grab Oscar for the best actor eventually. Go and
watch Mathew and this inspiring masterpiece.
Eddie The Eagle
Genre : Sport/Comedy Duration : 1h 46min
Year : 2016 IMDb : 7.4/10 Director : Dexter Fletcher
Cast : Taron Egerton, Hugh Jackman
“You're Eddie The Eagle...just fly!”
Eddie the Eagle welcomes you to the exciting world of ski-jumping.
Ever since a kid Eddie Edwards believed he meant for Olympics and years later
he fulfilled his dream. However his story is a lesson to all those folks who
doubt themselves. Although Eddie was small and no one took him seriously but
with his dedication he proved everyone wrong. You will surely love Eddie’s cute
wonderful and supporting family. Another important factor is of course Hugh
Jackman acting as his coach. But even as a coach he learns a lot of things from
Eddie and I hope you would too.
Flash of Genius
Genre : Drama Duration : 2h 00min
Year : 2008 IMDb : 7/10 Director : Marc Abraham Cast :
Greg Kinnear, Lauren Graham
"This is justice, Bob. This is how justice is dispensed in
this country - with cheque books. There are no brass bands, you know, there are
no ticker tape parades, the mayor doesn't give you the key to the city and call
you a hero. You get a check, and that check makes the lives of you and your
family a little easier... a little more pleasant. It's that simple."
Would you believe me if I say a college professor invented the
intermittent-wind shield wiper and Ford Motors stole it, claimed it was their
invention. Flash of Genius is the story of Robert Kearns and his exhausting
struggle against America’s one of the biggest automobile industry, Ford Motors.
This is a story of a common man who fought for the recognition of his invention
even though it felt impossible. As a viewer you’ll surely feel how exhausted he
was, how broken he was and yet he never gave up. Greg Kinnear totally justified
his performance. Just go and watch this one you’ll definitely not regret.
Ford vs Ferrari
Genre : Sport/Action Duration : 2h 32min
Year : 2001 IMDb : 8.1/10 Director : James Mangold
Cast : Christian Bale, Matt Damon
"There’s a point, seven thousand RPM, where everything fades.
The machine becomes weightless, just disappears. And all that’s left is a body
moving through space and time. Seven thousand RPM. That’s where you meet it. It
asks you a question. The only question that matters, Who are you?"
If you are cars fan or not if you like car racing or not this
movie is a must watch because this movie is not just about cars but tough
life’s choices and how unfair life can be sometimes. This is a story of two
dreamers Carroll Shelby and fearless Ken Miles. How they build a race car of
Ford which shattered all the records and how gave tough competitions to
Ferrari. Every scene is such amazing and specially the racing scenes are
delight to the eyes. I can promise you one thing you’ll love every second of
this movie and learn so much from it. You’ll also love the duo of Matt Damon
and Christian Bale.
Green Book
Genre : Comedy/Drama Duration : 2h 10min
Year : 2018 IMDb : 8.2/10 Director : Peter Farrelly
Cast : Mahershala Ali, Viggo Mortenson
“So if I'm not black enough and if I'm not white enough, then tell
me, Tony, what am I?”
Before you form any opinion about this movie let me inform you this movie won the Oscar for best film. It’s story about friendship, apartheid , excellence and courage. You would learn the value of friendship and how totally opposite people can become best of friends as well. It’s a true story of legendary pianist Don Shirley and his bouncer Tony lip , how together they started a simple road journey and in the process discovered America’s apartheid situation , it’s fears and long lasting friendship. It’s one of those movies where you would feel completely satisfied and positive in the end. Strong performance by M.Ali and Viggo Mortenson is one of the factors to see this movie as well.
Hacksaw Ridge
Genre : War/Drama Duration : 2h 19min
Year : 2016 IMDb : 8.1/10 Director : Mel Gibson
Cast : Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn
“With the world so set on tearing itself apart, it don't seem like
such a bad thing to me to want to put a little bit of it back together.”
This is a movie full of inspiration, hope, courage, bravery and
what else. I often find myself not believing that this is a true story but it
actually is. The courage shown by Desmond Doss is real. What actually happens
in a war ,such tremendous fear the soldiers go under is shown and yet there is
an innocent but the most fearless story of Desmond Doss is also shown which
would restore your faith in our soldiers, and moreover humanity. I personally
feel Andrew Garfield is the most ideal choice for this movie and what magic he
has created you should definitely see.
