Gentle Introduction to C

C is one of the first computer programming languages to emerge and is currently one of the most famous languages.

History of C 

C was developed in 1972 in the Bell Labs (situated in Murray Hills, New Jersey, USA) by an American computer scientist Denis MacAlistair Ritchie.

It was developed mainly to overcome the problems faced by previous languages such as B, BCPL and was originally intended to be used in UNIX operating system.

Applications of C

Due to its closeness to the machine or computer device, C finds applications in fields of :

• Operating System Deployment
• Embedded System Programming
• Development of Compilers for other Languages
